Guide Steps
Crafting a battery
Fabricator → Resources → Battery. Materials: 1 copper (from limestone outcrops, 35–40% drop) + 1 acid mushroom (abundant in Safe Shallows). Crafting time: 3 seconds. Each battery provides a fixed amount of energy before depletion.
Tools that require batteries
Scanner (1 battery), Flashlight (1 battery), Seaglide (1 battery), Repair Tool (1 battery), Habitat Builder (1 battery), Laser Cutter (1 battery). Most tools consume battery charge while in use. The Seaglide drains batteries fastest due to continuous use.
Battery management
Always carry 1–2 spare batteries when exploring. When a tool's battery dies, swap in a fresh one — don't discard the depleted battery. Depleted batteries can be recharged later (requires a battery charger, unlocked mid-game). In early game, depleted batteries are waste — so conserve power.
Power conservation tips
Turn off tools when not actively using them. The Seaglide drains battery even when equipped — switch to an empty hand slot while stationary. Use the flashlight only in dark caves. Don't leave the scanner equipped while swimming between fragments.
Early game battery farming
You'll need 6–8 batteries in the first few hours (Scanner, Seaglide, Habitat Builder, Repair Tool + spares). Farm 8–10 copper specifically for batteries alongside your other copper needs. Acid mushrooms are abundant — collect them whenever you pass through the Safe Shallows.
