Where to find quartz
Safe Shallows: Quartz crystals are the bright white, jagged formations on the seafloor and cave walls. They're highly visible against the dark rock. Kelp Forest: Also contains quartz, often near rock formations. Grassy Plateau: Quartz is less common here but still present near rocky outcrops.
Visual identification
Quartz appears as small, bright white crystalline clusters. Unlike limestone outcrops (round, brown-gray), quartz is angular and pure white. It glows faintly, making it easy to spot in dark areas or at night. Look for patches of white on the seabed.
What quartz is used for
Glass (2 quartz per glass) — for windows, hatches, air tanks, base modules. Standard Air Tank needs 1 glass. Habitat Builder needs 1 glass for the hatch. Large bases may need 10–20 quartz just for windows and reinforcements. Farm quartz whenever you see it — it stacks and is always useful.
Farming strategy
Quartz is one of the easiest resources to farm. Swim through the Safe Shallows and collect every quartz cluster you see. No tools required. A 5-minute swim yields 6–10 quartz. Unlike outcrops, quartz doesn't need to be broken — just pick it up.
Quartz for base building
Each window costs 2 quartz. Each glass corridor section costs 2 quartz. A basic base with 2 windows, 1 hatch, and 1 glass corridor needs 8 quartz. Farm 20+ quartz before starting base construction to avoid mid-build collection runs.
