Guide Steps
Step 1: Assign roles before each dive
Scout: carries beacon, Seaglide, explores new areas, marks resource clusters and threats on HUD. Builder: stays near base, constructs rooms/modules, manages power and storage. Gatherer: follows scout's markers, collects targeted resources, returns to base. Scanner: scans every new fragment and creature, tracks blueprint progress for the team.
Step 2: Share blueprints and discoveries
When one player scans a fragment, blueprint progress is shared across the team. Coordinate scanning: one player focuses on scanning while others protect them from predators. Call out new blueprint unlocks so the builder can prepare materials.
Step 3: Build shared storage by project
Name lockers by project, not by player. Examples: 'Scanner Materials', 'Base Expansion', 'Vehicle Prep', 'Emergency O2'. This prevents duplicated effort and makes it obvious what's missing. The builder should organize storage layout.
Step 4: Coordinate dive calls
Use three standard calls: (1) 'Diving to [location]' — announce where you're going. (2) 'O2 check' — report oxygen status (e.g., '120s remaining'). (3) 'RTB' — returning to base. If anyone misses two consecutive check-ins, the scout investigates.
Step 5: Plan expedition objectives
Before each session, agree on one goal: 'Today we unlock the Seaglide', 'Today we build the main base', 'Today we explore the Kelp Forest'. Having a single focus prevents the team from scattering and duplicating work. After the objective is done, free exploration is fine.
